Reunion Canberra 2010

Reunion time is almost here again. Has it really been four years since the last reunion in Melbourne.The previous reunions have been only three years apart but this time it was put back to four years till the next reunion in Canberra. Reunion dinner will be on Friday night 23rd April at the Crowne Plaza Hotel followed on Saturday with an escorted tour of the Australian War Memorial followered with the Association Annual General Meeting at the Crowne Plaza. Sunday is our big day marching in the Canberra ANZAC Day parade then returning to the Crowne Plaza for an after march function.

All past and present serving members of the RAADC and civilians who had served with the Corps are welcome to attend. You can download the Reunion Registraion here and forward it to our treasurer as indicated on the registration.

             ANZAC DAY 25 th. April 2010 Brisbane

Reunion year will see a much dimisnished attendance at the Brisbane ANZAC Day march.

For those members residing in SE Qld, who are unable to attend the Reunion in Canberra, but who would still like to march in the Brisbane ANZAC Day parade arrangement will be made for you to attend with 11Fd Amb Association, followed by a gathering at Gilhooleys Hotel. Further details of this event will be provided closer to the day.

Royal Australian Army Dental Corps History

Our historian LtCol Sven Kuusk is currently working on
the Dental Corps history. The book will probably have the title
FANG FARRIERS - Army Dentists in Peace and War - A History of the
Australian Army Dental Corps from 1915 to 2005. At this stage it has about 300 pages, has a long way to go, and much editing. LtCol Sven Kuusk
would like to make contact with past and present members of the Corps to collect human interest stories. He needs lists of names, ranks, unit locations, photo's etc. LtCol Sven Kuusk

EX-POW DR'S Plaque Burleigh Heads

Monday 15th February a dedication ceremony was held at the Burleigh Heads Memorial Park for the plaque commorating the Doctors and Dentists of Changi and Burma Railroad. Mr Mick Kildy paid for and supplied the plaque.
Jock Clarke is the first name on the dentists list. Jock was an avid supporter of the RAADC Association and his diary of his time on Changi is available to read on our web site. AGM – 16th May 2009

The Annual General Meeting of the RAADC Association Inc.was held on SATURDAY, 16 MAY2009. Held at the picturesq ‘Seadrift” Guest House, 47 Balmoral Road, Montville. The Meeting was held in conjunction with a week-end gathering of RAADC Association members at the Guest House. Past Vice-President, Marty Mylne has made the Guest House available for the week-end. Our thanks to Marty for this kind and generous offer.

The Agenda included the progress of arrangements for our National Reunion in Canberra in 2010; election of office bearers for 2009/10; the receiving of the Management Committee’s report and the statement of financial affairs.

Some of the members attending the weekend gathering at Montville stayed overnight on Friday and Saturday (15 th and 16 th May). On Saturday night a very pleasent evening was had at the local French Restaurant which also holds a collection of vintage Renault cars.

If you are on the “Net” – please send us an e:Mail.  You don't have to say much, just "Hi!" will do.  We are updating our database and whilst we may already have your e:Mail detail, there are many for whom we don’t have this information or it is out of date. As a cost cutting measure, we would like to use electronic mail (where appropriate) to forward items such as the Newsletter etc.   The savings on postage will be quite considerable.  Look forward to "e:hearing" from you.

PRIVACY ACT

The RAADC Association Inc. collects personal information that is necessary for it to fulfill its functions and objects as outlined in its Constitution. The type of information collected includes the member’s name, title, address, phone/fax details, email address, service details and comments which are provided by the member.  All of the information gathered appears on our Application for Membership form.

Member’s details are treated as confidential and are not released to any other person or organisation without the express approval of the member concerned.

The member’s name may appear in Newsletters or on the Association web site.  No personal or private details would be given.  All future Applications for Membership have a I DO/DO NOT section in which the member has a choice as to whether their name appears in Association publications or web site.   Should any member desire that their name NOT appear in Newsletters or Web site, please advise.
